OU Thoughts...
Oregon Underground
Thoughts

Jon and I (Jason) decided we needed a page dedicated to bits that we come up with.  Read at your own risk...

For more interesting insights into life, relationships, faith, and monkeys you can check out Jon Sewell's live journal right here. Read, reflect, and respond. Seriously. He's got no ego left anyway... www.livejournal.com/users/dukesewell/

10-07
I'm writing this in January of 2008... of course I didn't think to write about it when the event was actually occuring. Anyway, the original OU members got to hang out this past October! Martin got married and we were all there. It was quite the event and a welcome reunion. We didn't get to play any music together, but talked about it. Unfortunately our time was short. However, who knows, maybe this summer we'll jam out. Happy days!

6-23-05 Thursday
Oh wow!  As most of you OU fans probably already know, the OU is no longer a band.  At least for now.  Oh, don't worry, there were no nasty fights and band break-up drama scenes.  We just don't live in near enough proximity anymore to maintain the high high level of musical creativity that we desire.  So, that's that... we're doing our own stuff.  I can't speak for the Mart man or the Shaun man but me... Jason am still making plenty of music.  You can seek me out as a member of the Junkyard All-stars, which is my new band.  We're located in the wonderful lil city of Eugene Oregon, as could be expected, and can be reached at jrenslow@hotmail.com.  Awesome.  Thank you so so much.  I still check out this website every now and again... because remember that Oregon Underground is mostly a state of mind.  And, this site needs to be maintained!  Who knows what kind of stuff will end up here.  Happy travels.    -jason

Summer 2002
Jon came up with the idea that we needed a name for our Oregon Underground acoustic side project.  Of course, we're already mostly acoustic, so this is the extra stripped down side of our music that we're discussing..... if that's even possible.  Anyway, we agreed on the name Team Oregon Power Team which was inspired by some completely radical shirts Jon discovered at Goodwill today (8-18-02).  The shirt bears that title along with a honkin' huge bent barbell.  Buy this shirt immediately if you find one. (Note: We were only able to find them in small and medium sizes... go figure).

Saturday 3-3-03
Today Jon and I discussed how important Johnny Cash has been to our American Music heritage.  As you probably already know, this is the year of Johnny's 70th birthday... happy birthday Johnny Cash.  So, do yourself a favor and go out and buy Ragged Old Flag (or just look at the cover!) or Orange Blossom Special.  His music requires no explanation.
Also, on another note, if you do happen to hit somebody out there while you're driving, be kind enough to stop and check out the situation.  Even if it's pouring rain.  Remember, there is absolutely no way to escape your karma.

11-02
I believe that Jon and I should come up with a list of good literature that OU fans (or anybody) should read (in our opinion of course). This will likely be just a list of books that we prefer.  But, it can't be argued that reading good literature is at the core of the well cultured soul. So, keep reading and keep an open mind.
This list is by no means complete (nor should it be), but only contains books that Jon and I have deemed necessary "reads" by our standards for having a culturally well rounded literary background. It will certainly become longer (or shorter) in time
